Amber Charoen, MD
Hi, I’m Dr. Amber Charoen, a board-certified specialist in internal medicine and gastroenterology. I completed my medical education at Rangsit University in Thailand, graduating with First Class Honors and as Valedictorian. I undertook a fellowship in gastroenterology at the Rhode Island Hospital/Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.
Before joining Gastro Health of Tri-Cities, I served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
My patient-centered approach to care is characterized by a team-oriented, goal-directed, and compassionate ethos. I prioritize active listening and collaborate closely with my patients to formulate personalized treatment plans.

In fall 2022, I had a big surgery that necessitated the removal of 2/3rds of my bowel. As a result, I suffered with symptoms of short gut syndrome. I was unable to gain weight, my hair was falling out, and my lab results were all over the place. Emotionally, I was a mess. Dr. Charoen met with me and assured me that she could and would help me. She had reviewed ALL pertinent records before she met with me, she listened to me, asked open ended questions to flush out my story, and she included me in the plan to improve outcomes. Unlike some doctors I have seen, I felt like Dr. Charoen saw me as a person who needed help not just someone to increase billable hours. I highly recommend Dr. Charoen.
Dr Charoen was amazing with helping me when I was diagnosed with EOE. She educated me on the 6 food elimination diet protocol and we were able to find out what the underlying problem. I am forever grateful for everything she did for me and will truly miss her. I know her future patients are getting a great Doctor.
